Hello everyone,

I have a painting of the Titanic painted in 1913, a year after the disaster.

It was painted by Wheeler? Any help on the artist would be helpful.

Also it has some writing below the name. I can't read through.

I am willing to sell as well.

Hello,

The painting itself is 35cm x 26cm. It come in a antique frame which looks great as well.

Normally you see many paintings from the 1980's onwards, sometimes 1950's but I've rarely seen a painting from 1913.

Could of been done by a survivor as there was a Heeler on board?

I was looking about £200-£300 for it.

It look to me like an amateur work, possibly based on a shipping line's poster. If it's meant to be Titanic it's wildly inaccurate. The ventilators are more like those on Mauritania.

I think you're right that it is a amateurs work. You can't see it in the photograph but is is described Titanic on the ships hull. There is a a lot of mistakes such as the bridge and the B deck promenade.

Still a bit strange why anyone would paint it in 1913?
