Titanic Britannic Carpathia auction

Nov 29, 2005
For those of you that collect or follow the sale of items and memorabilia associated with exploration of the Titanic, Britannic and Carpathia, you might want to follow Fellows' auction of watches on January 23, 2012.

Titanic explorer Carl Spencer's Rolex Sea-Dweller and Doxa dive watches, along with memorabilia from several of his expeditions (Titanic, Carpathia, Bluebird and Britannic), will be auctioned by Fellows in London on that date. The auction catalog is available here:

The Sea-Dweller, which Spencer wore on the Titanic and Britannic expeditions, is Lot 225. The Doxa watches are Lots 49 and 50. The expedition memorabilia, including a plate that Spencer recovered on a dive to the wreck of the Carpathia (158m/518 ft.), is Lots 278 to 296.

Carl Spencer was a pioneer in deep water technical diving. He died tragically while leading an expedition to the Britannic for National Geographic in 2009. These items are being auctioned to benefit his widow and two young children.
