Hi there,

There are two day-long seminars on the Titanic being held by the University in Glasgow in the near future. Both are being held by a guy called John Gallacher. (Do any of you know him?)

The first is on Saturday, 10th November 2001
10.00 am-12.30 pm and 1.30-3.30 pm at
North Church Centre, Grampian Way, Baljaffray, Bearsden, near Glasgow (which I will be attending)

and the second is on Saturday, 16th February 2002
10.30 am-12.30 pm and 1.30-3.30 pm at St Andrew's Building, 1 Park Drive, Glasgow

Sadly, the historic building that housed the University's Botany Department that was built in 1901 burned down yesterday. Attendees of the Great Exhibition of that year in Kelvingrove Park would have seen this building newly built as they made their way over Gilmorehill to the Exhibition.

Hope to maybe see some of you there,

I signed up today for the meeting in my home town of Bearsden on 10th November. There are still 19 out of the 30 places to fill. The conference costs £16 and takes the style of an academic seminar. It will be different hearing someone give a talk about Titanic who does not have Titanic as his sole historical interest. I am hoping to meet some fellow Titanic buffs.
