Hi everybody!

Could you tell me the exact dimensions (in metres) of Titanic's main engine room, and how many decks (from bottom to top deck) were occupied by engine departments?

Check out Harland & Wolff's description in the Mersey Report. That should be of some interest.

Best,

Mark.

Hi Tomislav,

The British Inquiry gives the length [fore-aft direction] of each water-tight compartment:
The Reciprocating-engine room 69 feet
The Turbine-engine room 57 feet
The Electric-engine rom 63 feet

I hope that helps,
Lester

Thanks everyone.

I have a few questions more. Were engines, boilers, and other machinery mounted on the orlop deck or the tanktop deck, what was on the tanktop deck, and where were the acces doors to the engine room?

Thanks in advanced,
Tomislav
