Trollhättan och Titanic på Lödösehus
An exhibition entitled Trollhättan and the Titanic will open on the 14th April at Lödösehus Museum in the west of Sweden. Trollhättan is a spectacularly beautiful small town nearby where Axel Welin's davits were assembled before being shipped to Belfast and onto the Titanic. The davits were made of Swedish steel and came from the foundry at Kolsva. Many Swedes travelled on the Titanic. Swedish was the second most spoken langauge on board. One of the Titanic's victims was Henrik Kvillner, a young engineer from Trollhättan who seemed to have a bright future in store for him. Henrik's story, togehter with other moving stories of Swedish passengers, is told in the exhibition, which runs from the 14th April 2012 until the 13th January 2013.
