I have at last made a little bit of progress in the quest for information about whether the Royal Navy found the wreck in 1977.

I wrote to my Member of Parliament and told him that I was having difficulty finding information about RN ship operations in the North Atlantic in 1977, without saying why. I asked if he could help, as being an MP, he could access sensitive information. I was delighted to receive a letter from him today saying that he would be pleased to help, but would like a bit more information. Here lies the problem! If I mentioned anything containing the word "classified", he'll back off, so I need to find a way to ask him without scaring him off.

Also got an email from a contact who says that Alan Road, the journalist who broke the 1985 discovery before the ship was found, would like to have a chat.

So things are looking up at last.

Best wishes

Paul
