Somewhere I read that Titanic had a ship cat, who had just given birth to kittens, and was being taken care of by a nice man, charged with caring for her and the little ones. I believe I came upon this information by googling "ship cats". The cat with her kittens went down with the ship.

Is this true or false?

There was a ship’s cat, named Jennie, and she had a litter of kittens. I’ve read one account that says they left the ship in Queenstown, but I‘ve also read that story was untrue and they likely went down with the ship. Survivor Violet Jessop wrote about them and the crewman who took care of them, but she changed the crewman’s actual name in her retelling, so we may never know for sure what happened because of that reason alone.
