Yesterday being a Bank Holiday Monday, I was lying on the settee trying to recover from a hangover when Nickelodeon's Rugrats came on. Too idle and incapacitated to move, I watched the episode entitled "Age of the Aquarium".
The basic plot - the kids are taken to an amusement park, the main attraction being a huge ship with aquariums, talking marine life and a museum gallery "Best Loved Disasters at Sea" or something similar. Of course the Titanic featured prominently.
The kids do a runner after Mr Halibut bores them with talk of plankton etc and they explore on their own. They get to an underwater aquarium and the kids start to freak out because, being underwater, they think it means they're sinking. So they "sabotage" everything that looks as if it's causing the ship to sink, such as plugging up fountains and squirty things, causing a build up of pressure underground and ultimately causing all the exhibits to explode.
The kids parents, meanwhile, were watching a pathetic performing shark show. The tank explodes due to the pressure build-up, the 1/100 model Titanic is washed into the room and all four out-of-control robotic sharks punch holes in the model's sides. The Titanic begins to take on water and the "survivors" cling desparately to the decks as the model becomes perpendicular in the water. Suddenly the model splits in half and everyone is thrown into the water.
Thinking the whole thing is part of the show, Stewey immediately signs the family up for lifetime passes.
I know it's stupid but I was in no state to fight back.
Cheers,
Boz
