I had posted this a week or so ago but it got lost in the last database restore..

Over the course of the last month and a half, I've been recreating the Titanic according to Bruce's blue prints using the Source engine for the game Half Life 2. I'm not trying to come up with any playable game or story line, just rebuilding the ship as more of a walk through. Think back to the 'tour' mode from Titanic Adventure out of Time.

The goal is primarily to rebuild the entire ship in as accurate a detail as possible. I've always wanted to, and tried starting a few times before but always gave up. Now things are going well.

The first phase of the build is to get the layout created. Going by Bruce's deck plans I've gotten almost 2/3 of the ship completed thus far, with half of F Deck, G Deck, Orlop, and the Tank Top remaining.

Following this will be texturing and addition of basic details such as windows and doors, and ceiling work. Eventually I hope to have several passenger cabins built.

I'll post here some pictures of the progress since when I first started (too many links, so I'll just post the last few, but you can start at Titanic1.jpg and work your way up):

I've also put up two Youtube videos though the first is obsolete. The second one can be found here:

Nothing overly impressive in terms of looks but Im working on the layout right now, not the prettiness

If anyone knows of textures I could use however, I'd be much obliged if you could share!

Just wanted to share some of the progress I've made on re-creating the ship:
There's a total of 8400 different blocks in there thus far.

I love it!!!!!!! I've been looking for a walkthrough to illustrate the scale & size of the ship, for a Titanic Pub Night I'm hosting on the anniversary.
So far, this is one of the best I've seen. Gonna borrow the images, too! (Will give you the credit, though!!)

At some point yes, if the limits of the game engine permit it. Im already pushing it. Im going to start focusing on the Boat Deck first, adding a lot of the extra details to it. And then work my way down deck by deck. First doing details like doors and windows, then ceilings and furniture. At least, thats the plan.
