Re; Titanic Resort:
"We Are Coming Soon To LAS VEGAS, NEVADA!!"

Yeah, right.
Besides, this is a "Copyright © 1997-2002 by Titanic Resorts, Inc." site; surprised to see it has not been taken off.

I was in LAS VEGAS, this week, and did not see any "coming soon" signs for a Titanic resort.

The last time this was discussed, I was told by one of the taxi drivers, in LAS VEGAS, that the project had been stalled, but that if it were a Steve Wynn project, "the green light would have been given" (right now, a Steve Wynn hotel and casino is being built, alongside "The Steve Wynn Collection").

IMHO, the chances of a Titanic Resort, in LAS VEGAS, are probably worse than that of me riding the Stratosphere's newest ride, X-Scream, the one that dangles you out over the edge of the Tower: see http://www.stratospherehotel.com/stratosphere/stratosphere_tower/las_vegas_stratosphere_ride.html
(I thought to myself "I would immediately 'lose it' {to keep the term polite}, so there's no way you'll get me on that thing")

BTW, it was the designer of Stratosphere who wanted to do the Titanic resort; it "went nowhere". I think that's the way it will be, unless they think that we will try to buy into the project (again, "Yeah, right").

Thank god this never saw the light of day. How very disrespectful to the people who lost their lives.

I would hope if anything like this is proposed in the future, it would be a recreation of the Titanic (all be-the Titanic replica wouldnt be a real ship, but rather a building built into a very large concrete "pool" and faced with steel plates and rivet) in a recreation of the Southampton docks in 1912. It would be tasteful, and appeal to a different class of Las Vegas vacationers. But i am sure if anything is ever created, not everyone will agree with it.

That's kind of creepy actually. The site and the idea. It's making a joke out of the deaths of those people. Like the passengers all played with dolphins and polar bears until they froze to death. I do hope nothing comes out of this idea.

Just so you know, Bob Stupak's Titanic never happened because I owned the trademarks and sued him, which stopped him. As for whether it will or won't happen, IT IS HAPPENING. Also, just because something is going to happen doesn't mean you'll immediately see a sign that announces it. There are procedures that need to be dealt with before a press announcement is released. For all who don't like the idea, don't come and visit. I get hundreds of emails a day from those who will. Disrespect? Give me a break...What about Treasure Island? Didn't pirates rape, steal & kill? What about the Luxor? Who built the pyramids? THE SLAVES. So, once again, if you don't like it, don't come. If you do, have a good time, because it will be done with the utmost care, class, style, and honor...go visit the Titanic Exhibition in Branson Missouri.

May I ask all concerned to calm down, please? Archaeology - marine and terrestrial - frequently 'violates' the graves of the dead. We perhaps feel that the Titanic is more recent, and therefore more sacrosanct. However, this is not really a resolvable issue, and I would ask everyone to just respect each others' views.

I would ask that you refrain from that. This forum is for discussion and debate, it is not for attacking other people's opinions just because they don't agree with your project. As my colleague Monica has already said, please respect the other members opposing views.

Attack the issue at hand, not the people making their opinions known.

Some have, but that's not germane to the subject at hand.

The enterprise is public knowladge and is fair game for discussion, debate, approval or disapproval. Heaping scorn on those who differ with you is absolutely lousy public relations and can only serve to alienate people who might otherwise become your customers!

Remember what one wise old sage said; You draw more flies with honey then vinegar.

>>>For all who don't like the idea, don't come and visit.<<<

And this will be the quote that I will send to every news organization in the world when this "project" is "officially" announced.

>>>Just so you know, Bob Stupak's Titanic never happened because I owned the trademarks and sued him, which stopped him.<<

May I have your permission to contact Twentieth Century Fox/Paramount Pictures/Lightstorm Entertainment as well as the defunked Cyberflix? Your website has copyrighted elements from them. Someone needs to sue you and stop you from ever using the word TITANIC in conjunction with any future project. Those are my two cents.

I gather, from some newspaper accounts, Mr. Stupak's ill-conceived monstrosity did not take off due to zoning regulations. His design, and rightly so, was not endorsed as it would have drastically altered sight lines and blocked views due to the ridiculously tall funnels. I am sure there are probably other names and trademarks reflecting Titanic which might have been substituted. I suppose he might appeal to the commission again in a year, but I hope he does not.
