I just found a website while looking for info on White Star Line. The website appears to be an official site for the White Star Line now, proclaiming "now in business again." It goes onto say there are plans to reconstruct the ship by 2002 and finish the sailing to NY.

Is this just a joke? Or has anyone really heard about it. That would be a trip I'd have to make(I would be a bit nervous though.)

the only thing that puzzles me about it, is that the sites date is 98. If they were serious it would have been all over the media by now. Right?

Dear Shane,
Unfortunately this is just one of the many sites to the same genre, loads of ideas, but no funding or backing. This site has not changed since 1998. Most of these sites are completely the same, there are actually many similar sites. Some of them are run by no more than teenagers! If you want to get the real deal on any Titanic II's, just go to the following link:
http://www.put.com/gigantic/
This will give you the most uptodate info on the web. It's the best site about this sort of thing.
Hope this helps

G'Day Shane, unfortunately, this replica Titanic thing keeps coming back with the certain inevitability of tax filing time or some other unloved season. There was quite a bit of hokum circulating in the press right at the time Titanic 1997 was at the hight of it's popularity.

I could give a lot of reasons why this won't happen, but the bottom line is that no contracts have been awarded, no steel has been cut, and no hulls are rising on the slips or in the building docks. It's just not going to happen.

Cordially,

I think they're serious, but if San Fransisco thinks they can get it for less then three or four hundred million, they're going to be in for a very rude shock. And I think when the sticker shock sets in, the idea will die rather quickly.

Of course, I could be wrong, but I'll beleive it when I see it.

Cordially,
Michael H. Standart
