Titanic's 2nd cl rm equals to other ship's 1st cl rm?

Many articles claim that the accommodation of 2nd cl staterooms on the Titanic were just good as other liner's 1st cl stateroom, I wonder whether it's true, and the first one who posed this idea, is there any reference? THX.

1st class cabins on older ships say from 10 years and earlier are similar. However they started to improve as ships got bigger. Compare the 1st class cabins on the lusitania to smaller ships like the Oceanic On Titanic 2nd class cabins were basically the same as the 1st class cabins down on E deck. Very basic and plain, not what you associate with the grand rooms up above. the only difference is that the E deck cabins in 1st would have been carpeted and possessing of things like a space heater and marble toped washstand. In fact the ship had a section of 2nd class cabins that could be doubled for 1st class use in case 1st class was overbooked. If you want references William Miller put out a number of ocean liner books with lots of photos of these lesser known ships. I also go online and type in a ships name from the 18951910 period and usually some interior photos pop up.It's interesting to see how things improved over the years on a pretty quick rate.
