Just a doubt: in the news section, here in the site, it is mentioned that a photo there is of Mr. Arthur Lewis. Isn't it of Mr Gus Cohen instead?

According to British Pathe, it is Arthur Lewis but, you're right that the man doesn't look much like the same Arthur Lewis pictured in "Titanic Voices."

There could be a mistake. Edith Russell was on the same show (broadcast in 1970, not 1975 as stated), yet she is not listed by name as being a guest. Here is the description of this tape from www.britishpathe.com:

"...There is a short sequence at the beginning of this documentary of archive footage suggested to be of the Titanic. The very first shot and possibly the second shot are of the Titanic. The other shots feature other ships. For the best genuine footage of the Titanic see tape PM3468 - film ID 3468.07. The interviews with survivors are very nice. One woman talks of how people played snowballs when the ship hit the iceberg and how someone had observed that the iceberg was a "whopper"! Two survivors talk about how they got off the ship. The woman holds a toy pig which she had with her on the journey. Arthur Lewis who was a bedroom steward on the Titanic speaks of his time in the lifeboat..."

The information given is slightly confusing. Although the viewable clips only show Edith and the man identified as Arthur, the description above could be read to suggest that there was a third survivor on the program. Perhaps it was Gus and the Pathe archivists have gotten the two men mixed up.

Filipe:

I have just checked the Pathe site again and scanned through all the clips from this program and on the last page, there is indeed a third survivor shown, a gentleman, who is definitely Arthur Lewis. I have compared his photo from the book "Titanic Voices" (page 274) and it matches the image of the gentleman appearing in the TV show.

So the man whose photo was submitted to ET is in fact misidentified as Arthur Lewis. Whether it is Gus Cohen, I don't know. Someone else here can likely confirm that.

Hi, Phil:

The submitted photo identified as Arthur Lewis that has now been added to the ET Online Exhibit is actually of someone else - see above posts.

Arthur Lewis appeared in the documentary from which that video capture comes but the image is not of Lewis.
