I've noticed that on this website that there are unidentified persons and that its seems to give at least some description of the people. Why has not one person at least made an attempt to "guess" at who these people could have been?
Yes and no, upon looking at all the information on this website, they show the passenger, crew, and servant lists of everyone onboard during the event. They list the names, ages, room #, what lifeboat they were in, or what body # they were when identified. My thought is that some were buried at sea and buried in cemetaries but unidentified, so why can't anyone just look at the descriptions of the unidentified bodies and look through the passenger lists. most of the descriptions tell you what was in their pockets and what type of clothing they had on. We know that, at the time, the classes wore different types of clothing and such. So how come they are still unidentified? Couldn't someone cross reference?
Many people over the years have done just what you're suggesting, with some success. But this kind of investigative work is not as easy as you might think. You can get some idea why by checking out the threads in this section of the forum: Unidentified Victims
