Almost thirty years ago I made contact with the daughter of one of the men who died on the Titanic. I was introduced through a mutual friend. The second class passenger was Samuel Ward Stanton a noted ships artist. Mr. Stanton drew very accurate pictures on 19th century steamships and produced a book in 1895 entitled "American Steam Vessels". The book contained a "portrait' of the ship on one page and on the facing page a "data sheet". All of these were hand drawn in pen and ink. I bought from her several of the original portraits and data pages and subsequently others from her siblings.

I am sure that Stanton has been mentioned on this forum, but as I am new here I don't know for sure. Has anyone seen any of Stanton's originals offered for sale? Any information on this subject would be most appreciated.

Steve- I am familiar with that book and have seen an original-it is exquisite. Dover Press has brought it out in paperback and it is very affordable.
