From someone at the "Beeb":

You might be interested in a new programme about the Titanic and the way it's becoming an increasingly popular tourist attraction. It features a couple who got married next to the wreck, and interviews with Millvina Dean, who's life has become dominated by her story of being the youngest survivor. If you're unable to catch the programme on Thursday 28th February on BBC TWO at 1930 GMT, then you can also watch the programme on the website at

Well that documentary was produced by a regional TV station which would explain it. There should be a BBC Timewatch documentary some time around the anniversay.

Dear all,

I can inform you that the German and the Belgian Television will broadcast a programme on the SS Nomadic :

10th April 2002 at 7:20 pm (Germany Time) on the channel 3sat "Kulturzeit"
11th April 2002 at 7:30 pm (Belgium Time) on RTL-TVi (Belgium) - programme "Tout s'explique"
15th April 2002 between 1:00 and 2:00 pm on ARD and ZDF - programme "Mittagsmagazin"

You could see the actual situation of the Nomadic moored in Paris near the Eiffel Tower.

The BBC Timewatch Titanic program which was originally scheduled for around the anniversary looks like it will be released later. The working title is "Myths of the Titanic". In Feb we shot an interview about my ancestor Margaret Brown at the Molly Brown House in Denver. I believe it will include the myth vs. reality aspect of several passengers.

In this months edition of the B.B.C. History Magazine (Vol 3, no 4, April 2002) there's a two page article under the title Witness, The Sinking of the Titanic, 14-15 April 1912. Turn to pages 52 and 53. Towards the end they've highlighted the following:- A Timewatch programme The Myth of the Titanic will shown and broadcast on BBC2 later this month (April 2002).

I see there is no date confirmed for this programme to be viewed on the BBC2. Maybe Philip Hind could pull a few strings and discover what date is schedule so we can fix our videos to record this one-off documentary. Thank you in advance Philip because nobody would be more grateful than myself!

Best wishes

Andrew W.

I can only think there must be some major new addition to be gathered later on for the BBC to bypass such a 'perfect showing' as on April 14th.

Muffet it is truly an honor for me to see you here at ET. I heard your excellent radio interview in Charlotte, North Carolina in 1998. You were here promoting the Movie Tour at Carowinds. Molly was one of the most interesting passengers for me and I had the opportunity to go to Hannibal and see her birthplace. Hannibal is such a unique town. A couple of years ago, I managed to come across a plate commemorating the restoration of her brithplace. Did you ever make it to the Biltmore House in Asheville?

Dear all,

I suppose I was the only ET member to have seen the small programme on the Nomadic broadcasted yesterday evening in Belgium.

You missed something.

Many thanks to Luc Gilson, Philippe Mélia and Olivier Mendez.
