Voyagers Scifi series Titanic episode

In the 90s, the Sci Fi channel was showing a one season series called Voyagers and I happened to catch part of the episode set on the Titanic. This series starred the ill fated actor/model Jon-Erik Hexum who accidently shot himself to death on the set of his 1984 series.

As descibed below, Voyagers was similar in theme to both Time Tunnel and Quantum Leap. Hexum starred as Phineas Bogg and a child actor of the 80s, Meeno Peluce played Jeff.

Voyagers of the Titanic (airdate: Feb. 27, 1983). The Voyagers land on the Titanic, April 14, 1912, and immediately Jeff wants to warn to captain of the upcoming catastrophe. While on their way to the bridge, several crewmembers chase them and Bogg is caught by security personnel. Afterwards Bogg is told by one of the passengers of another Omni on board with a passenger, and decides to find the owner. Meanwhile the ship hits the iceburg and Bogg rescues a captured Voyager named Olivia. The captors watch increduously as Jeff, Bogg, and Olivia disappear using the Omni. The three Voyagers land in Louis Pasteur's Paris laboratory where Jeff is bitten by a rabid dog. Bogg and Olivia help Pasteur perfect his rabies vaccine which provides the cure to save Jeff's life. After Jeff recovers, they all leave to finish Olivia's original assignment: to get the stolen Mona Lisa off the Titanic. While Jeff leaves in a lifeboat with Bogg's Omni, Olivia and Bogg finish the job. The next day they all meet in France, where they go their separate ways. Guest cast: Olivia Dunn: Tracy Brooks Swope; Louis Pasteur: Will Kuluva; Haggerty: Lee de Broux. Director: Paul Stanley.

The scene I saw had the boy Jeff in a lifeboat which was clearly number 4 as there were a couple scenes of First Class women pulling in men from the water. Also, there was scene of the occupants watching a boat lowering, which based on it's location was clearly D.

Any copy of this show's episode would be quite a find indeed.

I have a copy from a Sci-Fi Channel airing of about 12 years ago that I did.

The FX sequence of the Titanic sinking were actually done for the prologue of "Raise The Titanic" that ended up on the cutting room floor.

A check of Ebay shows a number of DVD sets for sale today of the "Voyagers" TV series episodes, including the Titanic episode. There was a VHS tape of the feature film version of "Voyagers" which combined the one hour pilot and the Titanic episode. I have seen it on Ebay and in video stores under the title "Voyager From the Unknown". Robert H. Gibbons

Those DVD sets would be strictly unauthorized ones that fans put out of their own personally recorded copies (and which isn't legal either) and wouldn't in all likelihood be uncut either. I prefer to generally wait for when an official release will come out unless I'm convinced the show will never see the light of day on DVD.

"Voyagers" will be released on DVD by Universal video on July 17, which means a legitimate release of the "Voyagers Of The Titanic" episode (which uses the unused FX footage of the Titanic sinking intended for "Raise The Titanic") will finally be available in the US market.

I honestly never thought this series would make it to a legit DVD release!

Wow!

I haven't seen that since......well, it was first aired I guess!

I wonder if you will have to buy the entire set, or if you can buy just a few episodes?

Thanks for that news Eric.

TV on DVD is always packaged for buying the whole thing so to get the Titanic episode you have to buy all episodes of the series in the one boxed set. But frankly it's well worth it to have this episode uncut at last.

Tarn >>It makes me wonder if there will ever be an attempt to put out a new cut of 'Raise the Titanic', with the sinking footage reinserted..<<

Now that would be interesting to see.

Sadly the sinking footage you see in 'Voyagers' that was originally shot for the opening to 'Raise The Titanic' is not long enough. This was said to be about 12 minutes in total.
