Was there an exploration of the wreck this year

Tarn,

I can't read the article on that link, but I assume that we're talking about the same NYT article that Ken Marschall forwarded to me earlier this week.

Tourist visits to the wreck began again this summer after the Mir submersibles came out of their self-imposed 18-month maintenance standdown. Others have been testing underwater photographic equipment in the vicinity of, but not inside, the wreck.

The deterioration of the wreck, as described in this article, has been sensationalised. Yes, there was an alarming amount of decay noted during the 2001 expedition. Ken described it quite thoroughly in his online wreck report. As Ken has mentioned, the lighter superstructure is fragile and collapsing upon itself, but as far as I can determine, the hull itself is still quite strong.
