The Southwest Washington DC Waterfront, which includes the Women's Titanic Memorial, is under planning review by the National Capitol Revitalization Corporation (http://www.ncrcdc.com/main/news/) and the DC Office of Planning. The area including the statue is due to become incorporated into a new Cultural Building and Civic Park complex. Maps and other info are also available at the Anacostia Waterfront Initiative on the DCOP's web page at http://planning.dc.gov/planning/cwp/view.asp?a=1285&q=571861

Thanks for the info, Lee. Do you know of any plans to move the memorial? I know it was moved to the waterfront from it's original location on the Mall many years ago.

Actually, it's original location is where the Kennedy Center is now - that's why it was moved. They'll be keeping the memorial as is, but the great thing is with the new development around it, a lot more people will actually become aware there is such a thing!

That's great news! It really is a beautiful monument. I got some nice photos of it last year.

Well next time you're here look me up then - I'm in Arlington. Always happy to have someone to discuss the ship with!

Thanks, Lee! I also have a friend in Fairfax who is a Titanic buff. I'm in Maryland--not too far away.

Hi Sahand!

Please join us under the "Let's Meet" part of this board and maybe we can work out a good time for all of us to have dinner together!
