Can anyone enlighten me as to the location of the watertight doors on E-deck, foreward of amidships (or about forward of the 2nd funnel). I think theres one at the start of the 1st class staterooms, on the starboard side, between E1 and the master at arms office.

Plans are from Olympic but WTD's locations shown in red Xs.

There was one WTD not listed in the BOT report which allowed engineers to escape from the space forward of bulkhead L on F deck and come out aft of that bulkhead on E deck. It was a manually operated swing WTD like the two in the vestibule area on the tank top leading into the reserve bunker spaces, also not listed in the BOT report.

Hi Sam,

I noticed the absence from the BoT report of WTD's you mentioned. A rather curious omission, but perhaps there was some reason for these not being included in the count. Being capable of local operation only, they were likely kept closed while underway in most conditions. Perhaps the BoT was only concerned with WTD's that would have been normally open at all times?
