Possibly a ex-serviceman-such as a cavalryman?
150 pounds weight be just about right for this branch of service? Or prehaps a Batman {servant}
possibly a gentleman's valet?
 
Well his weight-19th Century US Cavalry regulations was that trooper had to be under 6 feet in height and under 200 pounds. Also I remember reading that a special Batman Battalion was formed in the British Army during WW I for those who were under regulation height and weight for regular Army service-and if he had been a cavalry orderly or Batman in service-why not in civilian life?
