My friend Tom miles said to me his grandfather was on the titanic. I checked and sure enough there is a Frank Miles but he has no biography. Is there a way I can submit something on the encyclopedia Titanica?

That's fascinating information, Geoff! It's always great to learn something new about the more elusive passengers on board. I still haven't got round to researching Ellen Barber. Will do soon!

Ben

Andrew,
Woolner is "found" (by a researcher other than myself) but it will be up to him to decide when to release the information in a public forum. Sarah Daniels married relatively late and lived at various times in the United States, Canada, and England. Pierre Marechal is said to have died in England but there is no trace of him in the British death records.

Grace Bowen was born in Cooperstown, New York on March 9, 1867 and died there on May 3, 1945 leaving only a handful of cousins as survivors. (her parents had several children but Grace is the only one who lived to maturity).

Algernon Henry Barkworth was born June 4, 1864 in Hessle, England and died there on January 7, 1945, a bachelor.

Buckley: 12 Apr 1889/15 Oct 1918

Lucy Ridsdale: I know but I won't tell :)

Mary Hewlett: ditto Ridsdale :)

Rugg: 19 Dec 1890/9 July 1958

Manca (that's the correct forename): born 1907, exact date not known. The death date has been alleged to be September 17, 1971 but I haven't seen documented proof. I've corresponded with her niece who is of the opinion that she died about a year after the wreck was discovered in 1985.

I asked my friend Jelena Potic in Belgrade to translate the funeral notice of Manca Karun Juvan and she graciously did so. (Jelena is a descendant of Titanic passenger Mile Smiljanic who died in the sinking.)

Here's the translation:

Our dear mother, sister, grandmother and aunt
Manca Juvan
has passed away
Karun's mother from Milj who has survived Titanic till this very day

The funeral of our beloved deceased will be on Sunday, 19th of
September at
3 PM from the house of mourning to the graveyard in Sencur.
Bereaved: daughters Anica and Lojzka, son Marjan, sisters Angel and
Micka,
brother Franc with family and dear
kinsmanship in
Milje, Breg, Kranj, Suha, Cleveland, Detroit.

Andrew,
Lyyli Silven was born June 11, 1894 and died February 5, 1974. At the time of her death she was Mrs. Otto Wilhelm Mailanen. She left no children.

Charles Eugene Williams was born July 28, 1888 and died in Chicago on October 27, 1935. He had six children--his son John is still living in Indiana but the other children are dead.

Amelia Lemore was born Amelia Hunt on March 18, 1873 and married James Lemore of Norfolk, Virginia. In the years after Titanic she settled in Chicago. I'll make her date of death public at some later time. She had no children.

Hi Andrew,
I've never been able to track any really promising informaiton on the first four. Bessette's full name was Nellie Mayo Bessette, not Amelia, and she was born October 7, 1872 and died either July 22 or July 23, 1944 (her obituary gives one date and her tombstone the other).
