What movie did i see

The Nearer My God To Thee song at the end of Titanic '53 sunk the movie for me. After a long boring story, all we get is everyone singing and the ship slides underwater. Yesh!

I wish that somebody would release In Night And Ice on DVD. Why are they keeping it locked away like this? I think in 'Beyond Titanic' they show a couple of clips from it, but I want to see the whole thing! Is there ANY way to get a copy of this? I'd also love to see 'Saved From The Titanic'. I'm sure neither film is really much to look at, but they'd be a treasure in any Titanic buffs collection.

I have to say the 1953 version of the Titanic is the weirdest Titaic movie i have ever seen. That was probably one of wors portrayls of Murdoch that I have ever seen. With the exeption of the portrayl of him in the 1996 cbs-tv movie titaic.

Linda-

>>I feel like a big "duh". I've seen the 1953 version many times, but was unaware that "Norman" was not Clifton Webb's screen son!! (Hiding for cover!!)<<

Don't feel too bad.....Listening to Richard Shickel's commentary you get the idea that this came as a surprise to him, too. LOL.

Also (this is probably on another thread) is one redeeming point in the movie having at least some memorable lines. :

Webb: "I have plans for Norman."
Stanwyck : "What plans ? To grow up to be you ?"
Webb: "Possibly. I'm satisfied."

Linda, Robert, add me to the list of shame, took me 30 years to realize what "not your son" REALLY meant. At the time I thought it was an emotional hijacking, you know-- "Honey, YOUR son wrecked the car" "Hey, MY son just made the winning tackle" that kind of thing. The "I have plans for Norman--TO grow up to be you?" lines reenforced that line of thinking.
These days I suppose they'd be on Maury Povich...
