What type of sea mine was responsible for Britannic's loss

Hi,

I've recently found some information -regarding how to lay mine barriers- that may be useful for my continuing Britannic research.Does anyone know the exact model and type (contact or magnetic) of the German mines laid in the Kea Channel?

Hi Michail!

The type of mine laid in Kea and most likely to have caused the demise of the Britannic was a moored contact mine, probably similar if not identical to the Mk VI Moored Mine used by the United States during that time period.
