Actually, I don't recall that quote. I've watched that film many times (for the ship, the script is friggin' awful). My god I'm oblivious.When Jack and Rose meet just before the dinner scene at the Grand Staircase, in the background, this exchange occurs:
Cal Hockley: You know, there are over 7000 tons of Hockley steel in this ship
Ruth: Oh, which part?
Cal: The right part, of course.
Thereby implying that through cutting corners in business, Caladan Hockley was responsible for the sinking of the Titanic and the famous weak steel. I'm surprised I've never seen a reference to this line on this forums.
