Where is it

Hi,

I would certainly appreciate your help here. This is an old amateur real photo postcard of mine. Did anyone ever see it? I want to know where it was taken.

According to the amount of lifeboats it looks pre 1912. Sorry for the scan I will make a better one if necessary.

Thank you so much for your time!

Regards,
Dom

Dom,

Very nice photo! Yes, looking at the boats and B deck windows, the photo should be any time 1911 or 1912 pre-Titanic. My guess is that this is in Queenstown (but I wouldn't be 100% certain of that, it is merely a "guess"). Hopefully others will post their comments.

Daniel.

Thank you very much for your answer Daniel, I think you could be right about Queenstown. I'm not from the area but it "fits" according to some pictures I've seen. It could also be Belfast though (What do you think?) but as you put it it is merely a guess.

Anyway I'm glad you like the photo and happy that you replied. I also looked at some of your pictures and they're beautiful. Keep it up.

Cheers

I appreciate your feedback Adam, many thanks. I did a little bit of research myself and I think that in fact the picture was most likely taken somewhere in Ireland in 1911 or 1912.

Regards to all of you!

Hi Dom,

That photo looks like it was taken in Ireland, possibly Cobh (Queenstown). I was just there, so judging from the hills it does look like it's just off Cobh, and that could be Roches' Point behind it. I could be wrong, but this is my guess.

That's a beautiful photograph, by the way.

Best regards,

Jason

Hi Jason,

Thank you for your input.

You must have had a great trip to Ireland! Good for you. I hope I can go myself sometimes. Did you have time to visit Belfast?

Cheers

Hi Dominique,

You're most welcome, it's my pleasure. I had a wonderful trip to Ireland, thank you! Yes, we visited Belfast which was our last stop. The trip was through the Titanic Historical Society and I was with 20 other people.

We visited Harland & Wolff which was one of the highlights of the trip, and we got to see the Corporate Offices where Thomas Andrews and Lord Pirrie had their offices. I got a huge rush when I walked into Andrews' office!

After Belfast, we went to Southampton where we had the honour and pleasure of meeting Millvina Dean! She is such a wonderful lady. Later that same day, we boarded the QE2 for a six day crossing to New York! Everything on the ship was absolutely wonderful. If you get the chance to visit Ireland, I would recommend it!

I'll be posting photos soon.

Best regards,

Jason
