Who are the two men standing beside the Olympic ?

The picture was taken on March 3, 1912 when the Olympic was in the Thompson Dry Dock in Belfast for repairs. She lost a propeller blade on February 24.

Who are they

I suppose the men work for the White Star Line. Who are they ?

Sorry, Harland was already passed on by the time this picture was taken... we'll just have to wait for a response from the archives(I hope)

Hello Ken,

Yes Edward Harland died in 1895. And Gustav Wilhelm Wolff was 77 in March 1912. I do not believe it is him since the man on the picture seems a lot younger than 77 to me...

Could the men be Thomas Andrews and Alexander Carlisle ?

Alexander Carlisle was just slightly shorter than Thomas Andrews Jr (who was 6 feet tall in length) and also he didn't worked for the company anymore in 1912 since he retired in June 1910 due his health. The man on the right is Francis Carruthers, the 54 year old Ship Surveyor of the Board Of Trade. The man on the left is indeed Thomas Andrews Jr, wearing his lucky paint-smeared bowler hat. This is unfortunately his final picture before his death during the sinking of the Titanic.
