Why was Britannic painted gray

Hello,

does anybody knows why Britannic was painted gray for her launch. None of the sisters were painted the same color for their respective launch. Olympic in white, Titanic in black and Britannic in gray. Why ?

Hi Jonathan!

I think the question should be: 'Why not?'

There are a number of reasons why Olympic was painted white-light grey at her launching, as you know. (Check out the 'Why was the Olympic Painted White and Then Changed' post of mine in January 2001, the fourth in the thread at the start.) I presume that for Titanic and Britannic they were painted black and dark grey respectively for convenience.
