Youngest Victims

I was reading the list of 3rd class passengers, and came across "Gibert Sigvard Emanuel Danborn" who was 4 months old. He perished with his parents.
My question is...was he the youngest victim of the tragedy? Are there more young babies that perished? And what are the names?

Thanks,
Laurie

Laurie:
His last name was Danbom, not Danborn. Glancing through the passenger list in the Eaton and Haas book "Titanic: Triumph and Tragedy," it looks the only baby who was younger on board was Titanic survivor Millvina Dean (read about her in the ET Introduction}, who was 2 months old. Others less than 1 year old were:
Philip Aks, survivor, 3rd class, 10 months
Hudson Trevor Allison, survivor, 1st class, 11 months
Alfred Edward Peacock, died, 3rd class, 9 months
George Sidney Richards, survivor, 2nd class, 10 months
Assed Alexander Thomas, survivor, 3rd class, 5 months

I have always been interested in the youngest vitems of the Titanic. I read that there were possibly 2 babies conceived on board the Titanic, Kate F. Phillips had a child. Does anyone know who the other mother to conceive aboard the Titanic was? Thanks

Elaine, I just noticed your post above for the first time-so hope you get this. It may be that Ethel Beane's first child was conceived on Titanic. The baby was stillborn on January 10, 1913, exactly nine months from the date of departure from Southampton.

I know that some very respectable Titanic historians in England believe absolutely that Kate Phillips' daughter was conceived as a result of some dalliance in New York after rescue. I've been told that Ellen Mary Walker insisted for years that DNA testing be done, and after it was all went silent.

Regards,
Phil

I believe that third-class passenger Elin Gerda Lindell was also pregnant on board the Titanic. She and her husband made it through the freezing water to Collapsible A, but Elin lost her grip and slipped into the sea where she died of hypothermia. Her husband, Edvard, succumbed a short time later (this was witnessed by August Wennerstrom, I beleive. He survived on Collapsible A.) I think Elin's wedding ring slipped off her hand and was found in the bottom of the boat. If I'm correct in believing she was pregnant, then her unborn baby would also be a young victim.

I recently saw a tribute video with actors playing some of the children who were on board. The young girl playing Mabel Skoog describes how excited she is to be travelling on Titanic with her family and how much she's looking forward to starting a new life in America. Sadly, the Skoogs, whom I believe came from Sweden, all perished. Of course we know they weren't the only entire family to be lost in the sinking. The parents of Gilbert Danbom were also the sister and brother-in-law of fellow Third Class passenger, Alfrida Andersson. Despite not having any real reason to leave their homeland, the Anderssons packed up their five young children and decided to emigrate to America alongside the Danboms. Unfortunately, neither the Danboms nor the Anderssons survived the sinking. Only the bodies of Anders Andersson and Ernst Danbom were recovered and positively identified. It makes me sad knowing that so many children died.

Oh, wow. I have NEVER heard that. Thank you for mentioning that. I have wondered about that.

Ive been obsessed with titanic since I was a little girl! Being a mother myself my heart breaks thinking about all the children who perished. Especially the babies! Danbom 4 months old! I dont get how in the hell babies that small were not saved. So sad. I can't even imagine what those mothers went threw
