This picture of wireless operator David Sarnoff was published in 1956 by 'L'Illustré", a weekly magazine from Switzerland. Sarnoff was among the first to receive Titanic's distress call and for 72 hours stood at his post at the top of Wanamaker in New York in order to relay any information from the sinking liner and from the Carpathia and other liners.
