Senate Proposal Thus to Honor TItanic Victims Goes Over
WASHINGTON, June 8---An effort was made in the Senate to-day to have adopted a resolution granting authority to erect on public land in Washington a joint memorial to the memory of Major ArchibaId W. Butt and F. D. Millet, the Washington artist, both of whom went down with the Titanic.

Senator McCumber of North Dakota made objection and the question went over. Mr. McCumber based his objection on the ground that to select two of these victims from the entire number would be invidious. He wanted further time to prepare an amendment. The proposed memorial is a drinking fountain. Friends of the two men have subscribed the money for its erection.
