MISS ELIZABETH SHUTE

Clinton--Miss Elizabeth Weed Shute, 78, aunt of Prof. Berrian Shute of College Hill, died in a Utica nursing home Oct. 27, 1949 after an illness of four months.

She was born in Newburgh Apr. 30, 1871, a daughter of the late Samuel E. and Sarah Berrian Shute. She was educated in the Miss Brown School, New York City, and taught in private schools there for several years. Miss Shute retired about 15 years ago.

She leaves a sister, Miss Marianna Shute, Utica, a brother, Frank A. Shute, Philadelphia, and nieces and nephews.

The body will be taken to Waterville at the convenience of the family for cremation.

    Miss Shutes must have been a lovely lady. Her memoir is deeply poignant. Amazing that her obituary omitted the Titanic. May she rest in peace.
