Kate B. Willis, a native of England, died in an Independence nursing home July 12.
She had recently been interviewed as one of the last survivors for the 60th anniversary of the sinking of the ocean liner The Titanic, which sunk April 15, 1912.
Mrs. Willis was born in Kent, England on December 28, 1875, the daughter of James and Elizabeth Brown Buss. She was the widow of Samuel Willis.
The family had lived in Pacific Grove, Calif., prior to moving to Roseburg in 1965 and to Dallas in 1967, where she has lived with her daughter, Mrs. Sybil Lane. She was a member of St. Hilda's Episcopal church of Monmouth.
Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Lane, and one grandson.
Requiem services were held July 15 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Hilda's Episcopal church, with the Rev. James B. Likowski Sr. and Fr. David Lane as celebrants. Burial was in Fir Crest Cemetery.
