Kate Parsons, 94, a long-time resident of the southwest Portland area died early Tuesday at Oakvilla Care Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Parsons was born Dec. 6, 1888, in England, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman. She was reared and received her education in England. She came to the United States in April, 1912, and was a survivor of the sinking of the British luxury liner Titanic.
She was married to Walter Parsons Jan. 5, 1914, in Portland, where they lived throughout their married life. Mr. Parsons preceded her in death in Portland in 1950. Following her death she made her home with her daughter and son-in-law in southwest Portland.
Mrs. Parsons was a member of the Titanic Historical Society, Inc.
Survivors include two sons, Norman of Charbonneau, Ore., and Herman of Vancouver, Wash.; a daughter, Mrs. Maurice (Hermoine) Kinney of Portland, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Private committal rites were at Fuiten Mortuary Chapel in Beaverton Wednesday.
