One of the survivors of the SS Titanic sinking in 1912, Ralph L. Wells, 62, of 260 Madison Ave., died unexpectedly Wednesday in City Hospital
A native of Cornwall, England, he was traveling to America with his mother, Mrs. Addie D. Wells, when the Titanic sank. They were among the last to leave the ship.
He was a shipping and receiving clerk at the George J. Myer Manufacturing Co. and was a member of the Eagles Aerie 2238, the immediate past president and life member of the Grand Aerie Fraternal Order of Eagles.
He leaves his wife, Colina; stepson, W. B. Troutman, Danbury, Conn; stepdaughter, Mrs. Sherry-Lee Johnson; brothers, Arthur L. and Charles O., all of Akron, and five grandchildren.
Services will be at 10:30 AM Saturday at the Billow Funeral Home, Fairlawn Chapel. Burial will be at Mt. Peace Cemetery.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home where Aerie 2238 will conduct services at 8 p.m. Friday.
