Mrs. Marion Woolcott, 80, a survivor of the famous wreck of the Titanic 53 years ago, died in Cottage Grove Hospital Sunday.
Mrs. Woolcott, who resided on Lorane Route, was a passenger on the ill-fated luxury liner when it collided with an iceberg in the Atlantic on April 12, 1912. She was on her way from her native England to be married in the United States.
She and Arthur Woolcott were married April 20, 1912 in New York. He preceded her in death in 1961.
Mrs. Woolcott had lived in the Silk Creek community for the last 53 years. She leaves three sons, John, Robert and Russell Woolcott, all of Cottage Grove, six grandchildren; a brother and two half-sisters in England.
Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at the Mills Mortuary in Cottage Grove, with the Rev. C. T. Abbott, Jr. officiating. Entombment was in Silk Creek Cemetery.
