HENRY JOHN SPINNER Spinner was raised and schooled in Worcester. He served in the Royal Marines during the Russo-Japanese War; he was stationed on the HMS Orion in the China seas. He then worked at a glove cutter at Fownes factory to support his wife, Alice, and daughter, Maud. He decided to try his luck in America and, at the age of 31, boarded the Titanic at Southampton, headed for Gloversville, Massachusetts. The last his wife heard from him was a postcard sent on route from the Titanic.
