George Thomas of Burton, age 87, died Monday, December 9, 1991 at St. Joseph Hospital. Funeral services will be held 11 A.M. Friday, December 13, 1991 at the Allen-Raysin Funeral Home, 9136 Davison Rd., Rev. Harold F. Legant officiating. Burial in Crestwood Cemetery. Family will receive visitors 6-9 P.M. Wednesday and 2-4 and 6-9 P.M. Thursday. Mr. Thomas was born on February 9, 1904, the son of Darwin and Anna (Rassey) Thomas and had lived in the Burton area for 50 years. He was a survivor of the Titanic. He owned grocery stores in Flint and Burton from 1925 until 1948 and then was self employed as a realtor in Flint, retiring in 1970. He was a member of the Davison Lodge #236 F.& A.M., the Bay City Consistory and the Elf Khurafeh Shriners. Surviving are sons, George L. and wife Carol Thomas of Burton, Joseph L. and wife Phyllis Thomas of Davison; daughters, Emily and husband Howard Stites of Pontiac, Betty Furqueron of Linden; grandchildren, Robert Hauxwell, Samuel Stites, Kimberly and husband Pat Pavlica, Debora and husband, Tony Newton, George L. Thomas, Jr., Kim and husband Bob Gazso, Mike and Steve Thomas, Clarene and husband Bob Pardee; many great-grandchildren; brothers, Samuel and wife Elenore Thomas of Flint, Dr. Joseph L. and wife Mary Thomas of San Antonio, Texas; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy L. Thomas on October 31, 1991.
