He was one of the few Canadian men aboard the ship to be saved. He was a yachtsman and was asked to go in the lifeboat to help manage it. He is a witness before the Investigating Committee in Washington, the only Canadian Witness.
Today's dispatches state that Major Peuchen will not receive promotion to Colonel, for which he was slated, because of his violent and absolutely unjustifiable charge made against Captain Smith of the Titanic
