Gift of Poughkeepsie Hudson-Fulton Celebration Committee
Poughkeepsie, N. Y., Jan. 31- On behalf of the Poughkeepsie Hudson-Fulton
celebration committee, Mayor John K. Sague and Peter H. Troy, of this city,
gave Colonel John Jacob Astor a solid gold medal three inches in diameter
to-day. The medal was presented to Colonel Astor for his generosity during
the celebration in putting his yacht, the Nourmahal, at the disposal of the
reception committee. A similar medal is to be presented to Governor Hughes.
The medals bear the busts of Hudson, Fulton and Mayor Sague, also the
Poughkeepsie Bridge, with the Clermont and the Half Moon.
