Dalbeattie District School Management Committee hereby certify that CHARLES CONNOR has been the Winner of a Prize of FOUR POUNDS Sterling, called the ''MURDOCH MEMORIAL PRIZE'' being the interest on a sum of One Hundred Pounds handed over to the late School Board by a Committee appointed to raise funds to commemorate the heroism displayed by Lieutenant William McMaster Murdoch, R. N. R., when the steamship Titanic of which he was First Officer, foundered on 15th April, 1912, to be given to the successful competitor at a special examination to be conducted by the Headmaster for the time being of Dalbeattie High School, where Lieutenant Murdoch received his education - the Competitors to be pupils not exceeding the age of fourteen years and attending that School from any of the Parishes in the Stewartry.
