Cordelia (Delia) Stanlick was born at Tywardreath, Cornwall in 1878. She was the daughter of Thomas and Amelia Stanlick. Her father, born in Devon in 1832 worked as a miner and in later years as a farm labourer.
The 1881 Cornwall Census has the family at Highway, Tywardreath, Cordelia was aged 3. Her siblings also present on census day were; Tryphena (1871), Bessie (1874), Rosina (1876) and Frederick (1880). Ten years earlier at the time of the 1871 census her parents were living in nearby St Blazey with their eldest children; Clara (1863), Amelia (1864), Samuel (1869) and Tryphena (1871).
It seems probable that Delia went to America with her parents in the mid to late 1880s as they are not shown in the Cornwall 1891 Census. Her parents were back in Tywardreath by 1901 but perhaps it was that Delia decided to stay in America. She had settled at Scranton, PA and it was there on 21 April 1909 she married William Arthur Lobb. William, also from Cornwall originally hailed from Luxulyan, a village within a few miles of Tywardreath so it may be that the couple were known to each other from their time in Cornwall.
In Scranton they lived at 1711 Swetland Street and William worked as an engine driver for the Lackawanna Railroad Company.
They returned to Cornwall in early 1912 to visit their respective families. Williams parents were now at Bugle (a few miles north of St Austell) and Delias elder sister, Rosina was by then married and living with her husband George Barker Pidwell at Robartes Road, Bodmin.
For their return to America the couple travelled on Titanic, they had obtained their ticket (third class) from the St Austell White Star agency of Daniel and Rowse for £16 2s.
Neither Delia or William survived the sinking, she was aged 36. Her body was one of those subsequently recovered from the sea. (see original biography notes).
