Titanic: The Norfolk Survivors

This book deals with the main events surrounding the sinking of the ship and then concentrates on the stories of the five Norfolk survivors, the treatment of the sinking by the local press, efforts in Norfolk to raise money for the dependents of the crew, and other topics including some of the myths which have arisen since 1912.

About the Author

John Balls is a Cambridge graduate who retired in 1994 as Head of English at Thorpe St Andrew High School. He now teaches Law at an Adult Education Centre, and is a GCSE Examiner for English and Law.

He is a member of Holy Trinity Church, Norwich, and Secretary of the Norwich Gilbert and Sullivan Society.

He lectures on the sinking of the Titanic, and organises the Norfolk Titanic Association. He is a member of the Titanic Historical Society, the British Titanic Society, the Irish Titanic Historical Society and the Ulster Titanic Society.
