SECTION 1. : YOUR USE OF ENCYCLOPEDIA TITANICA

By using Encyclopedia Titanica you agree to be legally bound by these terms, which shall take effect immediately on your first use of Encyclopedia Titanica. If you do not agree to be legally bound by all the following terms please do not access and/or use Encyclopedia Titanica.

SECTION 2. : COPYRIGHT

You may not copy, reproduce, republish, download, post, broadcast, transmit or otherwise use Encyclopedia Titanica content in any way except for your own personal, non-commercial use. You also agree not to adapt, alter or create a derivative work from any Encyclopedia Titanica content except for your own personal, non-commercial use. Any other use of Encyclopedia Titanica content requires the editor's prior written permission.

SECTION 3. : CONTRIBUTOR'S AGREEMENT

a.) Material submitted to the Encyclopedia Titanica is accepted on the understanding that it is the right of the contributor to make the submission and that there are no legal restrictions preventing submission or publication online or in any other media Encyclopedia Titanica may utilize.
b.) By submitting your contribution (including any text, photographs, graphics, video or audio) you agree to grant Encyclopedia Titanica a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive right and licence to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, play, and exercise all rights with respect to your contribution and to incorporate your contribution in other works in any media now known or later developed as required and at our discretion without further rights negotiation. 
c.) By submitting your contribution to Encyclopedia Titanica, you warrant:

a. that no copyright exists on the contribution or
b. that copyright on the contribution has expired or
c. that explicit approval has been obtained from the copyright owner for submission or
d. that you own copyright on the material being submitted 

and

a. that it is not defamatory and 
b. does not infringe any law and
c. does not infringe trademarks, licences or copyright owned or controlled by a third party and
d. that you indemnify Encyclopedia Titanica against all legal fees, damages and other expenses that may be incurred by the Encyclopedia Titanica as a result of your breach of the above warranty and
e. waive any moral rights in your contribution for the purposes of its submission to and publication by Encyclopedia Titanica and the purposes specified above.

SECTION 4. : WITHDRAWAL OF PERMISSION

Material that has been accepted for publication by Encyclopedia Titanica may not subsequently be withdrawn without good reason and with the agreement of the editor.

SECTION 5. : AI POLICY

The owner of this website does not consent to the content on this website being used or downloaded by any third parties for the purposes of developing, training or operating artificial intelligence or other machine learning systems (“Artificial Intelligence Purposes”), except as authorized by the owner in writing (including written electronic communication). Absent such consent, users of this website, including any third parties accessing the website through automated systems, are prohibited from using any of the content on the website for Artificial Intelligence Purposes. Users or automated systems that fail to respect these choices will be considered to have breached these Terms of Service.  

We have included on the pages of this website a robots meta tag with the “noai” or “noimageai” directive in the head section of the HTML page. Please note that even if such directives are not present on any web page or content file, this website still does not grant consent to use any content for Artificial Intelligence Purposes unless such consent is expressly contained.

SECTION 6. : JURISDICTION

These terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

Encyclopedia Titanica may change these terms at any time by posting changes online. Please review these terms regularly to ensure you are aware of any changes made. Your continued use of Encyclopedia Titanica after changes are posted means you agree to be legally bound by these terms as updated and/or amended.
