During the second half of the 19th century shipping companies White Star Line and Cunard competed for the passenger trade as over thirty million Europeans left their homes in search of a better life across the Atlantic. Newcomer White Star Line had greater success by focussing less on speed and more on the quality of the experience for the passengers. Introduced was The Titanic and the rest is history.
