Daniel McDonald

Mr Daniel McDonald was born in Belfast, Ireland on 24 March 1884. Hailing from a Roman Catholic family and one of nine children, he was the son of labourer and former British Army soldier Daniel McDonald and the former Margaret Hodges.

Daniel was described as a dock labourer when he appeared on the 1911 census with his family, then living at 7 Frederick Street in the north of the city. He was unmarried.

McDonald’s ship prior to Titanic had been the Olympic. He joined Titanic at Belfast for the delivery trip to Southampton where he then disembarked.
