Daniel Mullholland

Mr Daniel Mulholland was born in Belfast, Ireland, possibly as early as 1852 but giving his age as 48 in 1912. He was the son of William Mulholland, a carpenter.

Described as a sailor, Mulholland was married in Belfast’s Newington Church on 6 April 1888 to Sarah Luney (b. circa 1858), the daughter of a baker. The couple raised a family together.

The 1901 census shows Daniel, his wife and their two daughters Mary and Sarah living at 39 Greenmount Street, Belfast. Daniel became a widower when his wife Sarah passed away on 18 October 1908 whilst they were residents of 40 Upper Meadow Street.

Mulholland’s ship prior to Titanic had been the Romanic. He joined Titanic at Belfast for the delivery trip to Southampton where he then disembarked.

Daniel Mulholland spent his final days living at 42 Pilot Street in Belfast. He died there on 19 November 1919 as a result of pneumonia, reportedly aged 67.
