William Henry Middleton Noel

William Henry Middleton Noel was born on 11th September 1898 in Axbridge, Somerset, England, he was the son of Major Gerard Thomas Noel and Edith Mary Byron.

William (known as "Bobs") boarded the Titanic at Southampton with his father.  The pair were making their way to a family home in Finisterre.  Seemingly the trip was intended to make up for an incident in which Gerard had accidentally shot his son. 

They left the Titanic with their bicycles at Cherbourg, disembarking onto the tender Traffic.

William attended Eton College and later served with the Yorkshire Regiment during the First World War, gaining the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He also served with 4th Armoured Car Regiment, South African Forces gaining the rank of Captain.

He married Jacqueline Naomi Bendall (the daughter of R. Bendall), on 12 January 1934. and had a daughter, Lady Celestria Noel (b. 1939).

He also fought in the Second World War.

He died in South Africa on 6 August 1954.  His estate, valued at £8577 5s was left to his wife. She died in 1984.
