A scratched and pitted piece of wood from a staircase. A china-faced doll with a tattered dress. A piece of coal lifted from two miles below the ocean surface. All these are highly desirable items if they are connected with one source… the Titanic.
The easiest way to quantify Titanic’s popularity is to look at how much money collectors are prepared to pay for memorabilia with the merest whiff of Titanic attached.
Memorabilia recovered from the wreck site of Titanic is owned by RMS Titanic Inc. and goes on display in the company’s exhibitions. Beyond that, articles have come onto the market which were left behind by Titanic passengers and crew, objects which left the ship with survivors and examples from other White Star ships. All of these are highly sought after. Our question is how much would you be prepared to pay?
