Carl Friederich Heinrich Tietz

Kitchen Porter — À La Carte Restaurant

Mr Carl Friedrich Heinrich Tietz, was born in Rostock, Mecklenburg, Germany in 11 April 1885,1 the son of Robert Carl Ludwig Tietz (1858-1904) and his wife Bertha Sophia Maria (née Hoff, 1862-1888).  He had three full siblings. Kar's mother died in 1888 and his father remarried to Antonie Bertha Frieda Pietté with whom he had a further seven children.

He signed on to the Titanic as C. Tietz on 6 April, he came aboard on 10 April.

His previous ship was the Olympic.  His last address was: Richmond Tavern, Bridge Road, Southampton.

Tietz died in the sinking. His body, if recovered, was never identified.

  1. His 1899 confirmation record gives the date of birth as 11 April 1884.
